The main objective of this work package is to incorporate Knowledge Management principles, procedures and tools promoting the efficient transfer, share and development of knowledge assets in the SME partner companies. In this way the very traditional and less RTD intensive foundry sector will be enabled to increase its performance.
In a first attempt the SME partners have been interrogated through questionnaires. The major results:
- The perspective on information and communication differs from casting manufacturers to tool makers,
- the most frequent difficulty experienced by casting manufacturers and tooling manufacturers is the communication between the customer and the manufacturer and the share of knowledge with regard to the successful casting manufacture.
The RTD partners are currently assigning appropriate KM methods in order to improve the communication between customer and foundry.
